Loved this place. Amazing jungle/beach/surf getaway. The house is comfortable and beautiful and the community pool/area is lovely. Fun waves and time to relax and unwind. The food was so good and had more than enough for our group. Will be back :)

It was the worst experience I have ever experienced.
I have already shared this is manager. For 3 days we had no electricity nor water! I asked for help from the care takers and they said they could not do anything. Our food spoiled, my daughter's medication that has to be refrigerated and is extremely expensive was ruined. All of the other homes on the property had electricity and water except for us. We asked for at the very least a cooler for basic things, and despite the caretakers having 3 coolers stacked in the back.. they said they could not help us. We could not use the toilet, could not brush our teeth, could not shower, could not eat there. This private gated community is in a remote location and we could not see anything after 6 pm!! I emailed Michel and waited almost 3 weeks for his response and he never got back to me after stating he would contact the owners. In speaking to the grounds keepers they said that Casa Sonrisa always has those problems and that they had no prior knowledge that we were arriving that day. I will NEVER stay at this home. I will be glad to share some videos and pictures with you
Obviously some things went very wrong with your stay. About being 3 days without electricity; I wish you had contacted me during your stay instead of after you left. I'm sure you talked with Sam, who stayed at another house. He contacted me around midnight the night before you came about the electricity, I have stayed in contact with him that night until 3 am, and during the whole following day. The on site manager and I were able to help him with all problems he had. If you had contacted me right away I could have moved you to a house that is connected to our back up generator. Power outages are a normal problem during rainy season in this area, even in sayulita and Puerto Vallarta. This year it has been worse. I checked other rental websites/listings in the wide area, nobody mentions this, while I mention it very clearly on my website about Punta el Custodio. I never heard about the problems with the water during your stay. Again, I wish you had contacted me during your stay , we could have solved it. Without putting any responsibility with you; I contacted you twice before your stay that they needed to know the names of persons in your group at the entrance of Punta el Custodio, but you never responded. That is probably why they told you that they didn't know you were coming (the care takers and maid did know you were coming). The caretakers also didn't know you were without light; you called them Monday evening how the lights of the pool could be turned on. When they came to see you the day after, they did hear about the electricity problems, unfortunately they cannot fix that,the whole town was without light. Normally power gets restored within a few hours, that's why they didn't take much action. It's very unfortunate that the power problem lasted longer than normal. I only heard about water problems after you left too. I should have gotten back to you more early than after 3 weeks, I fully agree. That is not how I normal work, but this doesn't help you. In your case it was kind of confusing. According to other renters and our general on site manager the power went on and of during the first days, sometimes for longer than normal, but you are the only one who says to have been without electricity and water for 3 days. I will mention on the VRBO listing that power outages may occur, and ask future renters to contact me right away in case of any problems, so they can be solved. I'm very sorry that your stay was such a bad experience.'
