It’s an experience not to be missed!
A dream-like view from a beautiful spacious house
Staying at “The Falls” is an experience of living in comfort while in the embrace of nature. What a joy to live surrounded by a tropical forest with the spectacular vista of two private waterfalls and cascading river sounds. Each time we walked through the front door we felt this feeling of serenity – the inside merges with the outside in perfect harmony. What a treat to experience sunrise, day hours, sunset and evening in the changing light and sounds! We didn’t want to leave the property!
Our five-night stay was a stopover on our way to New Zealand. Everything and everyone is so laid back in Hilo that it is a perfect layover for jet lag, but actually a worthy destination in its own right. We barely touched the surface of possibilities. “The Falls” is perfectly located. We ate breakfast at the dining table in view of the falls with the sounds and breeze from the waterfall – so relaxing. For lunch and dinner, we either ate out or ordered extra food and brought that back to the house for another meal. The property is within minutes of the main town of Hilo but feels totally secluded.
The stay was ideal for us. So inspiring! We thank Jack and Jane for offering this extraordinary home with great equipment provided, for maintaining it so well and for Jack’s excellent communication.
If you love spectacular views, beautifully designed indoor/outdoor living and comfortable accommodation then this is the perfect place. An unforgettable experience!
The Pictures DON'T Do it Justice. Pure Heaven!
My husband and I had the distinct privilege of staying in The Falls at Reed Island for 26 days. I know, “fortunate” barely cuts it. We would like to thank Jack and Jane for opening this haven for creative energy and restfulness. All and all this place was magical.
A few suggestions from a couple of posing locals:
CarlSmith Beach - I swam with multiple sea turtles. They will eat sea grass from your hand!
Eagles Nest Waterfall- Only 10 mins away. A short hike to an island right in front of a majestic waterfall.
Antiques - The Kicknackery just down the street is the coolest store and the owner knows EVERYTHING about the island.
Two-Step Beach- You can snorkel/swim with dolphins who dance and show off in the bay OR sit and relax in a warm tide pool.
Black Sands Beach is an hour away. Go early and catch the sunrise. You will NOT regret it.
If you are here on Wed. Go to Uncle Robert’s Market starting at 5pm. It was the coolest local thing we did the whole time we were here.
The Cliff @ Southpoint - Alex jumped off 3 times! I only did once. Note, there are sharks off the cliff so be careful. Also make sure to hit record before you jump. And secure gopros with the proper handle. We lost one of ours in the cave.
Waipi'o Valley - Our favorite beach. Didn’t go until the last day and wish we had gone many more times. Need a 4wd truck to get down or walk the steepest road in Hawaii. There were wild horses that let us pet them and feed them coconuts.
Saddle Road or Mountain Road - Almost no lights and the stargazing is literally out of this world. You can see clouds and stars at the same time. It is crazy. Bring a DSLR and use the long exposure to have your mind blown.
Drive through a cloud, touch a star on Saddle Road, watch your footprints washed away in green and black sands, jump into the ocean from any height, bask in the mist of as many waterfalls as you can, watch the full moon rise above a volcano, talk back to the coqui frogs and chat up the skittish geckos (especially Buddy and Richard that hang out in the kitchen).
Above all - make as many memories as possible!
Beautiful architecture and grounds - the pictures definitely don’t do it justice! Amazing stargazing and a comfortable bed. What more could you want? As beautiful as the island of Hawai’i is, we sometimes had a hard time leaving to go explore because the house was so beautiful and peaceful! My husband and I had such a great (and relaxing) time here! We will definitely be back.
I enjoyed how unique and private this property was. It was a great experience!
I didnt think it would be possible for the property to be even more stunning than the listed photos, but it was. I doubt there is a more beautiful location to be found on the island or even all of Hawaii. I also really appreciate the communication from Jack and Jane. The entire stay was easy and relaxing. Thanks again!
