Wonderful house. It’s in a great neighborhood but is on top of a hill surrounded by an avocado orchard, so you feel very secluded. The pool has a beautiful view but was a little cold for us (it’s not heated and the weather wasn’t too hot). Guest house is located right next to main house but we still felt like we had our own space. Really enjoyed our stay!

My family has rented a private home in the So Cal area every Thanksgiving for the past 4 years. We love getting out of the Northern Cal rain and the kids look forward to swimming in the pool with the warm weather. We enjoy having all the cousins over for swimming and BBQ so we thought this house would be perfect as it is advertised as a private Villa. My only concern was if the pool was heated. So I emailed Linda the owner before we booked this property and she confirmed that the pool was heated. I would not have booked this place had I known the pool was not heated and the pool is in the owners back yard no privacy from them at all. When we arrived we where shocked. This property is advertised as private but the owners lives in a house a few hundred feet away and the worst part is the pool area, BBQ and great views are their back yard NOT yours. What a bait and switch. The pictures and description on VRBO clearly state it is a "private villa". What was most disappointing is Linda's son gave us a tour of his back yard pool and said they never heat the pool. I emailed Linda the owner to ask about the pool and she said to call her 2 hours before we wanted to swim and she would heat the pool. We told her we would like to swim every day and I would bring my kids down at 10am Thursday. Imagine my 5 and 8 year olds disappointment when we went to the pool at 10am and it was still freezing. The owner did not heat the pool once for us even though she specifically emailed me that it was heated. We never used the pool or hot tub. The grounds are well landscaped but there are barking dogs tied up in the common back yard (there is no privacy it is one yard). The first night we where there one of the dogs bit my 8 year old daughter in the bottom. The owner did tie him up for a couple of hours but later that night the dog was back on our patio area barking at the screen door where our daughter was. The last night we where there no one brought the dogs in from the trees they tie them to so they barked for 2 hours non stop keeping both our kids away until 10pm. I am so glad I was able to have my Aunt cook Thanks Giving dinner as the kitchen is badly understocked. We ended up at a hotel swimming pool where some of our family was staying. We couldn't use the pool and my dog loving family couldn't even enjoy the grounds, the whole thing was ridicules. This was just the WOREST experience.

The house is spacious, cool and luxurious, the kitchen superbly equipped and the garden provides fresh herbs.

The host's family lives right next door, providing a welcome basket of fresh and delicious local produce and responding to any requests immediately. The friendly ranch dogs also welcome visitors and will play with children.

The pool commands spectacular views and the garden attracts hummingbirds. Walking through the property's avocado groves offers panoramic vistas and romantic sunsets.

Several freeway routes provide easy access to LA and picturesque drives to Malibu and the Pacific Coast Highway. A few minutes away, the Ronald Reagan Library is worth a visit whatever one's politics.

This was the perfect rental home for our family gathering. We were able to live comfortably, cook at home as well as have guests over to "our house". It was beautiful, well maintained and spacious.
